PLEASE NOTE, ON ORGANISATION: The 5 CP Module "Technical Urban Infrastructure Systems" which to date was offered as one integral course is now offered in two complementary parts:
SP-B-402-100, Lecture "Technical Urban Infrastructure Systems" (5 CP)
This takes place on Wednesday morning in the window 08.15 to 11.45 hrs, but we do not make use of the entire window each Wednesday and will start later on several Wednesday. Our first class meeting on April 3, 2024 is at 10.15 hrs.
SP-B-402-200 Practice Seminar & Excursions (0 CP, but this is obligatory for HCU Urban Planning Bachelors in order to be able to obtain the 5 CP of the lecture SP-B-402-100).
We will offer several excursions on Tuesday afternoons. Participants have to attend at most three excursions, and individual classes on the excursion destinations on Wednesday mornings. Erasmus students and guests from other academic institutions do not fall under this strict requirement but are welcome to participate in the excursions nevertheless.
ON CONTENT. The lecture SP-B-402-100 deals with urban energy supply (heat and electric power), urban water supply and wastewater management, and municipal solid waste management. It presents the technical working and environmental impacts of the physical infrastructure systems, as well as the regulatory regimes they are governed by, and their role in and interaction with Urban Planning. Resource efficiency and energy transition with respective technologies and the potential paths towards achieving the German climate protection goals are an integral part of the course. -- The excursions SP-B-402-200 are offered as complement to the lecture, to let participants see technical urban infrastructure facilities in operation.
