Beschreibung:
Looking to the future, the Hamburg Carl von Ossietzky State and University Library wants to reinvent itself as a place to work, learn and meet. In view of accelerating changes in processes, tasks and needs, the question arises as to whether the current premises meet these constantly changing demands. The functionality of the existing complex is examined, among other things, on the basis of equipment, spatial and infrastructural flexibility, accessibility and anchoring in the city as a place for science, culture, learning and meeting, as well as its architectural and atmospheric quality. To what extent can the existing structure be maintained and supplemented on this basis, and at what points should it even be completely replaced? What does the library need as a spatial structure in the city in order to do justice to its significance? Together with architecture students from the University of Weimar (chair Prof. Springer) and the TU Dresden (chair Prof. Reimann) we will develop designs for the Carl von Ossietzky Library in Hamburg.
