We are permanently immersed in it and feel disconnected from the world if it’s not available: the Internet. The Internet in fact has changed the ways in which we communicate, shop and exchange, work and play, search for company and romance, browse global headlines or the menu of the local pub. The Internet has freed us from the limitations of our own small local habitat; at the same time we create new small worlds online by socializing primarily with like-minded people. This seminar explores the ambivalent impacts of the ongoing shift from ‘social collectives’ to ‘online connectives’, and examines the following issues in particular.

Crowd-Sourcing: Peer-Production and Innovation.
