Beschreibung:
How does the microclimate of an urban square is formed? What are the underlying processes that lead to thermal dis-/comfort for urban dwellers (throughout the diurnal circle)? What might be appropriate adaptation measures to reduce thermal discomfort in a given location?
The seminar will introduce this topic and contribute to develop answers to these questions by taking part on exercises using the ENVImet microclimate software together with the students. Each workshop will start by diving into the matter of urban microclimate, followed by a hands-on session where the general features of the ENVImet Software will be explained and applied by the students themselves in a real-world scenario comparison for climate adaptation regarding urban heat island phenomena. The final session will be a round of discussions, where the collaborating working groups of students will reflect through their presentations on how they applied the software to derive information of the microclimate from a real-world setting, the learnings collected and challenges for urban development.
