Beschreibung:
The lecture and workshop series "Work in Progress" has already been implemented in the winter semester 2019/2020 and in the summer semester 2022 and supported through a Waterfront grant. For the third installment, the seminar series will take place again in the winter semester 2022/2023. The series is oriented towards current perspectives and positions from architecture and art, which are presented by selected guests from the broad field of architecture and art in a casual 2-Day workshop atmosphere.
We already had renowned (international) guests as part of the two previous workshop series: for example the artist collective Ruangrupa from Indonesia, who conceived the content of the current Documenta in Kassel, as well as the architectural practice of Summacumfemmer from Leipzig, who were currently selected to represent the German Pavilion at the 2023 Architecture Biennale in Venice.

Each time, the format of the workshops and the selection of guests is slightly different. The third part of the workshop series we will look more locally on the current architectural and artistic landscape in Hamburg in order to invite three selected guests either from Hamburg and the surrounding area or with a specific work relation to Hamburg. In contrast to the 1st workshop (which took also place in Hamburg), the focus is this time on local activation and connection with various cultural locations and artistic niches in Hamburg. This means, that the three 2-day workshops will take place at three specific cultural locations in Hamburg.

Central questions within the series are to be located even more directly at our local place of production and creation in Hamburg - and perhaps also in confrontation with the city of Hamburg: What methods do young architects, collectives, curators and artists use in their practice? Which topics are they currently dealing with within their practice? How do their approaches influence our view of architecture? To what extent do they reveal shifts and changes in the field of architecture? Which topics are important for the future?

The attitude of "Work in Progress" thus comes from the in situ and reflects the current state of art of what has just been in production in a direct, open and hierarchy-free workshop environment.

The guests for the third part will be announced in early October. In terms of dates, there will probably be a 2-day workshop each in November, December and January.
All three workshops are part of the seminar and must be completed for evaluation.
