Beschreibung:
Invited by Theater Bremen and in collaboration with students of Temporary Spaces from the University of Arts Bremen we will develop a contextual intervention for the International Performing Arts Festival OUTNOW! 2021. Around the Theater Bremen we will investigate urban every-day practices and relations, as well as objects and architecture as a basis for our own temporary structures, objects, installations, or spatial forms.

Students will start with a research into the context of the theater and its urban environment that is characterized by a semi-public inner courtyard. You will have conversations with diverse actors from the theater, with visitors, passersby, and residents of that neighborhood. You will find out more about this the collective space of the city. Finally, you will create and implement a temporary structure for the theater courtyard. Accompanied by the theater director Adelheid Schulz, students will activate the spaces and objects they have developed in the form of performances and actions.

The processes might include but are not limited to urban research, dérive, interviews with representatives of institutions and passers-by, mapping, reading and discussions on institutional critique, development of projects with video, sound, performative practices, development of installations in public space, temporary structures, etc.

The projects will evolve in an interdisciplinary discourse that is fundamentally bound to collective processes and joint decisions of the participants.
In collaboration with Mona Mahall (Professor for Architecture and Art, Hamburg), Adelheid Schulz (Theater director, Stuttgart), Florian Ackermann / Judith Strodtkötter (Artistic director and Program, Schwankhalle Bremen), and Theresa Schlesinger (Dramaturgy, Theater Bremen).
