Beschreibung:
This course (in English only) offers a range of topics related to sustainability issues, with an emphasis on (but not restricted to) ecological and physical resource efficiency aspects of sustainability. Topics range from (by way of example) "Climate Change: The Physical Science Basis", "Sustainable Forest Management" to "Air Quality" and "Environmental Justice". We also look at concepts of sustainable development as they are offered by natural and social scientists and the political community. The topics are presented in part by HCU-internal, in part by external speakers who are experts in their field.

Expected from participants is a high-school level general knowledge in, and interest for, the natural sciences and contemporary politics, as well as the willingness to actively work on their English vocabulary.

PLEASE NOTE RE: ORGANIZATION: This course is offered online only. Our online time window is Fridays 10:00 to 11:30 hrs. Our electronic learning platform is Moodle. Study material and regular information will be uploaded there. We will also perform short online-tests in the Moodle the results of which will enter your grade.

Official enrolment and grade records are administered via ahoi, so you need to register for the course in the ahoi system if you want to earn a grade with it.

Once the ahoi-enrolment in this course has been completed, you will receive access data to the Moodle platform of this course here, in the ahoi system. A preliminary schedule will be uploaded here shortly.

A NOTE TO STUDENTS FROM OTHER INSTITUTIONS: You are welcome to join this course. Beware though that our student administration may tell you, upon your attempt to register, that you cannot get a place immediately and have to wait until the registration period has ended. That is a formality which the HCU student administration practices with external students. It does not mean that you will not get a place. If you are an external student and wish to attend this course, please make yourself known to the tutor (contact data below).
